Man On A Ledge (2012) To Begin Filming Exterior Scenes...Jamie Bell

Summit Entertainment & MOAL, LLC will be filming exterior scenes
for the feature film "Man On A Ledge" centered at Madison Avenue
and 45th street beginning on Sunday, October 31st 2010 from
approximately 5 am to 10 pm.

RETREAT (2011) Last Bit Of News On Location - Jamie Bell

A last bit of eye-witness information on RETREAT
from a new friend, Richard, in Wales. He writes...

"There were two days filming, Thursday and Friday,
the latter late into the artificial moonlit night on the rocky
north coast of the Lleyn Peninsula at Porth Ysgaden,
which happens to be a property belonging to friends.

I was there for a bit, but not able to be when there was
a shooting from a helicopter..."

"On the following day, Saturday, there was a final mornings
filming at Black Rock, a rocky promontory at the end of
Morfa Bychan Sands, in view of Criccieth Castle.

Here Cillian was filmed on a run along the tops, sometimes
stopping to gasp for breath. (That bit of land happens
to belong to my cousin) That was the finish of the filming."

RETREAT (2011) As An Intense 4 Week Shoot Comes To An End - Jamie Bell

As an intense 4 week shooting schedule comes to an end,
Barry Davis, @motcat of Tudweiliog wrote on Twitter:
"filming Retreat with Cillian Murphy and Thandie Newton
still filming now in the rain
with a huge false moon brilliant"

A few days earlier Richard Williams-Ellis had emailed me with an update saying
practically the whole of Retreat is being filmed in and around
Plas Llandecwyn and outbuildings.
The only scenes to be shot elsewhere were the arrival by boat
on the island from the mainland...
and the end scene which was to be filmed October 14 & 15
on a rocky location on the coast about 12 miles from Plas Llandecwyn.
Apparently that was in Tudweiliog...
On the northern coast of the Llyn Peninsula in the county of Gwynedd...
Where they were still filming late into the evening on Friday.

RETREAT (2011) An Evening Shoot On The Set - Jamie Bell

photos of an evening shoot on the set of RETREAT (2011)

at Plas Llandecwyn.

Photos were taken at c. 9 pm - some 3/4 of a mile away...

Meurig went on to say:

"I think there has been much evening / night shoots, or at least

the area has been very well lit for most nights for the duration of the shoot.

Quite often the large spotlights are also still on at 06:00 – 06:30 in the morning".

RETREAT (2011) More On Robert Beames Visit To The Set - Jamie Bell

Robert Beames of the 'Beames On Film' blog
had the opportunity to visit the set of RETREAT,
which has been filming in North Wales,
where he saw a rehearsal and short action sequence...
He was kind enough to take the time to email me saying:

"The cottage is a private house being used as the film set by the production company.
The shooting I saw was taking place in the living room in front of a fireplace."

What he wrote reminded me of one of the original 'Mood Boards'...

But I was most excited with what he wrote to me about Jamie Bell:

"Despite the fact that production of RETREAT was coming to the end of a packed four week shooting schedule, Jamie Bell was showing no signs of fatigue as he bounded onto the set near Porthmadog in North Wales. He seemed to be sharing a joke with co-star Cillian Murphy as they prepared to shoot a climactic scene with Thandie Newton in an old cottage. I later learned when speaking to him that he was doing an impression of Stephen Fry. Between takes he played on an acoustic guitar with some members of the crew and seemed in high spirits. The film casts Jamie in a much darker, more complex, role than he has had previously and he seemed to be relishing the opportunity to showcase his range and to work with the other two cast members: both talented actors in their own right. I interviewed him for around ten minutes and he seemed like a really nice, down to earth guy."

"On my way to North Wales now to visit the set of a British thriller due for release next year."

"On a remote film set in North Wales. It's cold, but bloody lovely. What scenery! Lakes, mountains and greenery like I've never seen."

"Just had a chat with Cillian Murphy in a film set mess hall. Nice laid back guy with intelligent cliche-free things to say about acting."

"Spoke to Jamie Bell on a hill near a lake with some sheep. He's pretty hyper, quite sweary and very down to earth."

"And then a chat with Thandie Newton on the grass. A strange and wonderful day in North Wales!"

Plas Llandecwyn: Site of filming

RETREAT (2011) Release Date & Latest Production News - Jamie Bell

Three Hollywood stars have descended on a Gwynedd village as filming gets under way for a new psychological thriller.

The Retreat will star Billy Elliot's Jamie Bell, Cillian Murphy of the smash hit Inception and Thandie Newton of Mission Impossible II and Crash.

They will be spending most of their time at Plas Llandecwyn, a remote farmhouse near Talsarnau, Harlech, which will double up as a secluded island hideaway.

In the film Murphy and Newton play a married couple who are spending some time alone to repair their relationship.

But they're soon confronted by a bio-hazard suited soldier (Jamie Bell) who says a fatal airborne disease has swept the planet and they're the only people left alive.

The Retreat is a debut for British director Karl Tibbetts and is a co-production between Irish film-makers, Ripple World Pictures, and British company Magnet Films.

It's due for release in December 2011 and is the latest in a long line of film and TV productions to use north Wales locations.
